Had a huge white oak limb fail during a storm in Knoxville last month, and now I'm rethinking my whole approach to cabling.

It's wild how one bad storm can change your whole game plan. We get comfortable with our systems until something breaks in a big way. That moment of re-evaluating everything is pretty common, from tree care to how we run our daily routines. Makes you wonder what else we're doing on autopilot that could use a fresh look.

Last year's ice storm took out three mature oaks on my street. It forced me to finally map which trees could hit my house if they fell. What's the biggest blind spot you found in your own setup after a storm?

@betty_reed61 hit the nail on the head with mapping out what can fall on your house. My blind spot was thinking my trees were fine because they looked healthy, but that white oak limb snapped clean off with zero warning. Now I'm checking every cable connection twice a year and marking weak spots on a simple sketch of my yard. Better to feel paranoid for a few hours than get woken up by a limb through the roof.
