Found a trick for cleaning off excess sap from my chainsaw bar...

I sprayed a little bit of cooking oil on the bar and let it sit for 5 minutes, then the gunk wiped right off without any scraping... anyone else use something weird like that for cleanup?

Oh man, that's genius! I've been fighting with the same problem and never thought to try cooking spray (or oil I guess). I've been using a scraper and it's such a pain, especially when the sap gets all crusty. I can totally see how the oil breaks it down without hurting the bar, which is the real worry, you know? I'm definitely going to steal this trick for my next cleanup.

I used to think oil would just make a greasy mess, but now I see it's the smart way to go.
