A 70 year old climber said my rope wraps were too pretty
Ran into this old timer at a job site in Portland last month. He watched me do a basal tie and just laughed. Said I was wasting time making everything look neat when the tree was gonna fight back anyway. He showed me his method, quick half hitches, zero fuss. It hit different because he wasn't being mean, just practical. I've been overthinking my rigging for 12 years. Anyone else had an old hand point out something simple that changed how you work?
Ngl that old timer probably saved you years of stress. Pretty wraps look great for video, but speed and function beat looks every time on a gnarly job.
