Watching a rookie tech insist on OEM parts made me question our industry norms.

I just can't agree with the push for OEM everything when good aftermarket parts do the job for half the price.

Oh please, my car is held together with aftermarket parts and hope. They work just fine until the next weird noise starts up. My wallet sure isn't complaining.

2005 Civic here, aftermarket parts work fine.

Honestly, the weird noises are just the aftermarket parts communicating. That rattle at 55 mph is them telling you they're still there, doing their best. My old car had a whole language of clunks and whines. You get used to it after a while, like a really noisy roommate who's cheap.
