Update: I was checking the wrong side of a dryer drum for years
Had a Whirlpool dryer in the shop last week that kept making a scraping noise... I was focused on the front bearing and seal, like always. The customer mentioned they moved it from a second-floor apartment in Akron, and that made me flip the drum over. The whole back edge was worn down from a broken rear glider I never even thought to look at. How many other simple fixes have I missed by sticking to my usual routine?

My old boss in Toledo had the same thing happen with a Maytag.

My buddy in Cleveland had his Whirlpool fridge go out after just two years. The repair guy said it was a bad compressor, cost almost as much as a new one.

and that's exactly why I won't touch any of these new fridges. they're all built to fail now. companies figured out they make more money selling you a new one every few years instead of one that lasts twenty. the compressor is the heart of the fridge and they're using cheap junk parts. you're basically gambling with a thousand dollars every time you buy one.
