Tried using a multimeter to diagnose a fridge noise instead of just guessing, backfired hard.
I was in a client's kitchen in Austin last Tuesday and their Samsung fridge sounded like a dying cat, so I poked around the condenser fan with my Fluke and accidentally shorted something that killed the compressor relay. Had to order a whole new control board for $85 and explain why their fridge was now sitting dead for 3 days - anyone else ever make a simple diagnostic go sideways like that?

$85 for a board plus three days of no fridge over something that small. That's one of those mistakes you don't forget in a hurry.

Actually I think it was 85 for the board plus the fridge repair not the fridge itself.
