TIL a wet dryer sheet will pull lint out of a drum vent I can't reach with a brush
I had a Kenmore dryer last Tuesday where the customer swore the machine was taking 90 minutes to dry a small load, and sure enough the airflow at the outside hood was weak. I pulled the back panel, cleaned what I could reach, and still felt a clog somewhere down inside the blower housing where my brush would not bend. Out of frustration I wadded up a wet dryer sheet, balled it tight, and shoved it down the duct with a shop vac hose taped to the other end pulling. The sheet came back out gray and fuzzy, and the airflow jumped right back to where it should be. I have done this on four machines since and it has worked every time, though on one really packed unit it took three passes before the sheet came back clean. It is not a replacement for a full tear down on a badly clogged duct, but for that in between case it beats pulling the whole housing apart on a callback. Anyone here got a better trick for the curves you cannot see into?
