Saw three guys this week using the wrong drill bit for tile

Saw three guys this week using the wrong drill bit for tile. I was at a supply house in Harrisburg and watched two different guys grab a regular masonry bit for porcelain tile. Then yesterday a third one boasted about drilling 20 holes without water cooling. That's how you get cracked tile and burned out bits. Am I the only one handing out cheap diamond bits to anyone who asks?

Ugh, right? Do you think it's more about them not wanting to admit they don't know or just being too impatient to grab the right tool?

Oh man, I feel your pain. Just last week I was swapping out a toilet for a buddy and grabbed my tile bit without checking it first it was the wrong size and I ended up chipping the hell out of the floor. Had to buy him a new piece of tile and explain to my wife why I was $60 lighter in the wallet. It's funny how everyone thinks they know better until they're staring at a cracked tile and a ruined bit. The water cooling thing drives me nuts too those guys are just making more work for themselves down the road. Good on you for handing out diamond bits though, maybe it'll save a few people from learning the hard way.
