I used to think multimeters were overkill for basic fridge diagnostics

For years I'd just guess based on compressor warmth or listen for clicks... changed my tune after a call in Portland last Tuesday. Found a bad start relay on a Whirlpool fridge in 5 minutes with a $40 Klein multimeter, saved me from swapping a $600 compressor. Anyone else skip the meter and regret it later?

Gotta disagree here. I've been burned more by bad meter readings than just trusting my ears and the click test.

Look, sometimes the meter catches a bad connection that sounds fine to the ear.
