Heads up on those new Samsung fridge ice makers

Had one fail catastrically on a 6 month old unit yesterday, flooded the whole kitchen floor. The new design has a plastic water inlet that cracks under pressure. Anyone else run into this yet?

That plastic inlet thing is a real weak spot. I had a buddy with the same model, and his started leaking slowly behind the fridge for weeks before he caught it. Warped the hardwood floor in a perfect line right where the water ran under the cabinet. The repair guy said he's seen a bunch of them already. Makes you wonder how something that basic gets through testing.

Wonder if the plastic they're using is more brittle in colder climates?

Ugh that's rough, sorry you had to deal with that. So has anyone actually tried swapping that plastic part out for a metal fitting or something before it fails? I mean, if the repair guys are already seeing a pattern, seems like there ought to be a known fix by now. Just wondering if Samsung is doing anything about it or if it's totally on the owner to figure out.
