Blew $85 on a used Fluke 117 off a guy in Berwyn and it's the only reason I found that open neutral
Had a dryer job three weeks back where the heating element tested fine and the vent was clear, but the thing kept acting weird. Pulled out the meter I'd been using for years and it read 120 fine. On a hunch I grabbed the Fluke I picked up off Marketplace for $85, and it showed the neutral floating around 60 volts. Turned out to be a bad connection at the panel lug. Half hour job after that. My old meter would have had me swapping parts all afternoon. What's the one tool you actually trust when a reading doesn't match your gut?
