A 20 year tech in Kansas City told me to stop cleaning condenser coils with a wire brush and I've been doing it wrong since 2011
I was at a supply house in Kansas City picking up a run cap when this older guy watched me grab a wire brush off the shelf for a fridge call. He asked what I was using it on and when I said condenser coils he just shook his head and said I was grinding the fins down to nothing. He told me to use a soft coil brush and a shop vac with a brush attachment instead, and to spray with coil cleaner first so the dirt lifts off. I tried it on my next three calls and the coils came out way cleaner without any bent fins. Now I keep two soft brushes in the van and the wire one lives in the trash. Any of you still using stiff brushes or have a better method for the greasy kitchen units?
