That one Tuesday where every anime discussion thread turned into a war over sub vs dub

Last Tuesday I logged into the forum and every single post on the front page had someone arguing about whether subs or dubs are better. Even a thread about a new series trailer got derailed within 3 comments into the same old fight. I counted 12 separate threads that night all boiling down to the same two sides yelling at each other. Has anyone else noticed these cycles where a whole community just fixates on one debate for a day or two?

I was one of those subs vs dubs posters that night, and I'm still embarrassed about it. I got into a 45 minute argument with some guy about how JoJo's subs capture the soul of the original audio better. Then I realized I was yelling at a stranger online about voice acting in a cartoon about muscular vampires with weird poses. That Tuesday made me step back and wonder why we all do this to ourselves. It's like the whole forum catches a fever and nobody can stop fighting about the same tired points. At least the next day everyone moved on to arguing about which streaming service sucks the most instead.

Yo @mason798 wasn't this the same night my buddy Kyle spent 3 hours defending Funimation's DBZ dub to some random dude who kept calling it "butchered" - only to find out later the guy had never even watched the Japanese version and was just parroting a YouTuber he liked?

...and the thing is, you both probably agreed on the actual show itself, but the format fight just took over. That Tuesday felt like the whole forum got infected with the same argument virus. I saw someone in a Ghibli thread get accused of being "culturally illiterate" for preferring the English cast. It's just embarrassing to watch grown adults fight over which language track to press a button for.
