Switched from subbed to dubbed after 15 years, here's what surprised me
I used to be that guy who refused to watch anything dubbed. Like, I'd rewind scenes just to read the subtitles and I'd get genuinely annoyed if a friend put on the English track. Then around last October I started doing pressure washing work where I'd have my laptop playing anime in the background, and I just couldn't keep up with reading while trying not to blast my own ears off with the hose. So I gave a dub a shot with the new season of something I didn't care that much about, and honestly it was fine. Now I watch about half my shows dubbed, especially the action ones, because I can actually catch the fight choreography instead of staring at the bottom of the screen. The voice acting is way better than it was in the early 2000s, that's for sure. Anyone else made the switch later in life and found it hard to go back, or is it still subs forever for you?
