Remember when anime forums were just text walls and a few low-res gifs?
I was at a small con in Portland about 8 years ago, waiting in a line for a panel. The guy in front of me was on a forum on his phone, arguing about the best 'Big Three' series. Back then, discussions were just these huge text posts, maybe with a link to a 240p AMV. Now, every thread is full of clips, memes, and charts. It feels like you need to make a video essay just to say you liked a show. Does anyone else miss when it was more about just talking and less about making content?

Those old text walls were the best part of the day sometimes. You could really get into a back and forth about characters or plot without needing a picture. Maybe it's just me but I miss when it felt more like a conversation.

Honestly you're right about the back and forth, but I still see plenty of text walls in the replies on big threads.

Totally get what you're saying. I mean, those long replies could be a real mess to read sometimes, but they had heart. Now it feels like you're just shouting into a void and the algorithm decides who hears you. Maybe it's just me but the whole vibe is different.
