Okay but people keep calling 'Bocchi the Rock!' a slice of life show...
It's literally a character drama about social anxiety, the music is just the vehicle. I checked the director's notes from an interview last year and he said the same thing. Anyone else get annoyed when a show gets put in the wrong box?

Friend of mine actually works in an anime shop and he gets into this exact argument at least once a week with customers... @anthony_sullivan68 would get a kick out of it. He had this one guy come in and insist Bocchi is "chill background show" material, same way people treat K-On. But my buddy walked him through episode 5 where Bocchi literally hallucinates her guitar strings turning into spiderwebs while she's trying to play a simple chord. That's not chill background music, that's a panic attack on screen with a catchy soundtrack. The whole show is built around her breathing exercises and phone calls with Kita where she can barely form sentences. Slice of life doesn't make you feel like you need to take a walk afterwards.

What's next, calling a car chase scene a quiet nature documentary? I'm with @finley777 on this, it's a deep look at one person's headspace. The band stuff is just how they show her fight with her own brain. People slap the slice of life label on anything with a school in it now.
