My brother called my favorite anime 'just a checklist of tropes' and it stung
We were talking about 'Spy x Family' last weekend, and he said he dropped it after episode 12 because it felt predictable. He argued that the found family dynamic was just hitting standard beats without real emotional risk. I got defensive at first, but his point about the show playing it safe has been bugging me all week. Has anyone else had a show they loved picked apart like that?

Yeah I just remembered why I liked it in the first place.

Sometimes you gotta write that reason down somewhere you can see it. Put it on a sticky note or in your phone notes. Next time you feel unsure, just look at that note. It helps cut through all the noise and reminds you what actually matters to you.

Found an old notebook of mine from like five years ago, had a page where I scribbled down "this is the part where I feel less alone" next to a messy drawing of a lamp. Totally forgot I even wrote that, but it was about some dumb lamp I bought at a garage sale that I kept for years. Thought I kept it because it matched my couch, but nope, it was because it reminded me of my grandma's reading lamp. Funny how a little note can just punch through all the fog.
