My book club keeps calling 'Monster' a simple crime story
They miss the whole point about the gray areas in justice, focusing only on the chase. I had to pull out the manga panel where Tenma questions his own actions to show them. Does anyone else find people miss the deeper themes in slower anime?
Used to roll my eyes at people calling shows that, thought they were missing the point. Then I watched one with a friend who broke down the whole class struggle angle and how the cops are just tools of the system, not heroes. Completely changed how I see those shows, now I get why the label fits.
