Just saw a huge change in the MyAnimeList forums over the past year

A year ago, the big episode threads for a new show like 'Frieren' would have maybe 200 replies, mostly just quick reactions. Now, those same threads hit 800 easy, filled with long posts breaking down every scene and line of dialogue. I think it's because a few big YouTube channels started doing super deep dives, and now everyone wants to post like that. It feels way less casual and more like you're writing for a grade. Has anyone else felt pushed out by this new super serious vibe?

Ugh, it's turned into a damn term paper contest.

Came across a podcast the other day where someone broke down this exact thing. They said long posts are fine, but when every reply reads like a college thesis it kills the flow. Some people treat these forums like a chance to show off their vocabulary instead of actually talking. Been seeing it more and more lately too. Makes you wonder if they're trying to win an argument or just have a conversation.

Actually appreciate when people take the time to explain their points. Makes the whole thing more interesting.
