I was reading an old interview with a key animator from 'Cowboy Bebop' and found out the iconic 'See You Space Cowboy' line was almost cut.

The director, Shinichiro Watanabe, said in a 2001 interview he fought to keep it because he felt it was the soul of the whole show, which makes you wonder what other classic moments were almost left on the cutting room floor, right?

Would I still be saying "see you, space cowboy" to my cat when I leave for work if it got cut? Probably, but at least he'd be confused in a more real way.

Maybe the director was wrong to fight for it. That line is just a cool sign-off, not the show's soul. The soul is in the music and the quiet moments, not a catchphrase. Cutting it might have made the ending feel more real and less like a tagline.

My last stand was for the office coffee machine, @gibson.oliver.
