I spent $40 on a 'complete' anime guide that was just a list of shows from 2015

It was a total waste because all the info was old and I could have found better lists online for free. Has anyone else bought a guide or book that was totally outdated?

Honestly, sometimes older guides have a better curated selection than the endless junk online now.

Totally feel that. I bought a used game guide for an MMO that had a huge "updated for the expansion" sticker on it. The expansion it was updated for had been replaced by two newer ones, so half the maps and items were just wrong. Felt like such a scam.

Ngl, I used to be the person who would always defend buying physical guides. I liked having a real book and thought they were more trustworthy. But getting burned on a movie art book that was missing like half the films from the series totally changed my mind. Now it just feels like a gamble if the info is even current. You really have to check the print date on everything.
