Hot take: I thought the hype around 'Odd Taxi' was just noise until I watched it last weekend
I kept seeing people talk about it on here, but the animal character designs made me think it was just another quirky show. I finally gave it a shot and binged all 13 episodes in two days. The writing is so sharp, and the mystery plot had me hooked by episode 3. The way every little detail connects is crazy. Has anyone else had a show they were totally wrong about because of how it looked?

Glad you liked it but I still don't get the huge deal. It's a solid mystery with good dialogue, sure. Calling the connections "crazy" feels like a stretch though, the show just pays off its own setup. The animal thing is still a weird choice that makes it look less serious than it is. What makes this one stand out so much from other well written shows?

Not sure I'd call the animal thing a weird choice exactly. From what I've seen, a lot of shows use those kind of visual motifs to tie things together, it's not that unusual. And @hugow30, you're not wrong that it's just a show, but I think that's kinda the point for some of us - we just enjoy nitpicking the details. For me the payoff is what makes it stand out, like how they set up a small detail early on and you don't realize it's important until way later.

Honestly @the_jana, it's just a TV show, not that deep.
