Heads up about a fake anime streaming site that tried to steal my info

Three years ago, I was looking for a specific OVA and found a site called 'AnimeFluxHD'. It looked real, with a full list of shows. I made an account, but the login page felt off. Last week, I got an email from my bank about a weird charge from a company I didn't know. I checked, and that was the only place I used that password. The site is gone now, but new ones pop up all the time. How do you guys check if a streaming site is safe before you sign up?

Wait, you used the same password for your bank and a random anime site?

Oh man, that's rough. I mean, I get it, we've all been guilty of reusing passwords at some point because it's just easier to remember, but not for something that has your actual money. Did you already change your bank password at least? Because that's step one, like, right now. What made you even think about using it for the anime site in the first place, was it just a lazy moment or did you not think it'd matter?

A tech blog I read said to always check for a padlock icon next to the website address. If it's not there, don't type anything in. I also look up the site name plus the word "scam" to see if others have posted about it. Using a password manager helps so you never reuse the same one. It's a real pain, but you gotta be careful with these random sites.
