Finally finished my rewatch of Gintama after 11 months, the payoff hit harder this time
So I started Gintama back in February knowing the serious arcs were good but I always skipped filler on first watch. This time I committed to every episode including the hot springs and character polls stuff. By episode 300 I was getting tired but kept pushing, then the Shogun Assassination arc landed around episode 305 and I actually teared up at a scene I remembered laughing at before. Turns out the comedy episodes build the emotional stakes way more than I gave them credit for. Has anyone else rewatched a long series and found the slow parts became your favorite parts?
