Dub elitists are sleeping on one specific show this season

Everyone rages about sub vs dub like it's a religion. I get it, most dubs are trash. But I stumbled onto *The Apothecary Diaries* in English by accident. The phrasing on the medical terms makes way more sense in English. It clicked for me around episode 3. Has anyone else found a show where the dub actually beats the sub?

Just read this whole piece on ANN that was breaking down the English dub for Apothecary Diaries and they pointed out something I never noticed. The translator actually had to make some tricky calls with the Chinese inspired medical jargon and the English cast somehow landed on pronunciations that sound way more natural than the Japanese readings. My buddy who watches exclusively subbed swore by it until I made him watch the scene where Maomao explains the poisoned makeup. He admitted the English version made the ingredients and reactions way easier to follow. I feel like shows with heavy technical or medical terminology are the secret weapon for dubs honestly.

Honestly I had no idea the dub team actually had to figure out how to pronounce all that Chinese style medical jargon. That sounds like a nightmare. @the_jana your buddy switching after the poisoned makeup scene is wild but I get it. The ingredients and reactions thing is legit, I remember being confused during that scene in subbed because I could not follow what was what. Ngl makes me want to rewatch the whole show in English now.
