Drove 45 minutes to a swap meet in Fort Wayne for a bootleg tape, and the label was a total lie
Two weeks ago I hit a small anime swap meet in Fort Wayne hoping to find some old OVA tapes, and this guy sold me one labeled as a rare 90s mecha show for $20. Got home, popped it in, and it was actually three episodes of a cooking anime taped off TV with the commercials still in. I called the number on his card and he just laughed and said "that's the gamble, man." I ended up keeping it because the 1994 car commercials are honestly more fun than the show, but now I'm wondering if anyone else has bought a mystery tape at a con or meet and gotten something completely different from the label.
