Question if tier list debates are inherently less thoughtful. Don't they force us to justify our preferences with concrete reasoning?

Look, tier lists are mostly just for fun, not some deep think piece. People pull reasons out of thin air to back up their gut calls, like saying a game is S-tier because they played it as a kid. That's not real reasoning, it's just dressing up personal taste to sound smart. So yeah, I doubt these debates ever get that thoughtful.

Disagree with the idea that tier lists promote thoughtful debate. Tbh, they usually just make people dig in on gut feelings and call it reasoning. Rose_davis4, the need for concrete justifications often forces simplistic answers onto complex preferences.
