Shot a whole roll of 36 at f/16 in downtown Boise before I realized my aperture ring was stuck
I was so proud of myself for nailing the sunny 16 rule on my Canon AE-1 during a walk around downtown Boise last weekend. Got the roll back from the lab on Wednesday and all 36 frames were dark and flat, like someone threw a gray blanket over everything. Took the lens off at home and noticed the aperture ring was stuck wide open the whole time, probably from some grit after that dusty trip to the Snake River. I wasted $18 on developing plus the $9 roll, and now I'm paranoid I'll never trust my own eyes again. How do you all check your aperture is actually stopping down before you burn a whole roll?

My buddy had the same thing happen, ran a whole roll of his dog at the park in manual mode then found out the ring was stuck the whole time. Now he just watches the blades close down when he changes the f-stop, quick look through the lens and he's good.
