Developed my own B&W soup in the bathroom sink, now I never look back
Used to drive 45 minutes to the only lab in Portland that still did push processing, cost me $18 a roll plus gas. Started mixing my own Rodinal in a Tupperware container last spring, just gotta keep the temp steady with a thermometer and a bowl of warm water. Anyone else try soup recipes with instant coffee or tea for that weird tonal look?

My kitchen smelled like instant coffee for two weeks after I tried that, and the negatives came out looking like muddy soup, not some artistic tonal thing. The lab's $18 paid for a machine that holds temperature at 68 degrees within a fraction of a degree, and my sink setup swings by 4 or 5 degrees no matter how many bowls of warm water I fuss with. I get the appeal of mixing your own, but half my rolls from the Tupperware days went straight in the trash, and I was back to Portland within a month. If you want weird tones, just shoot expired film and let the lab handle the chemistry.
