A $5 light meter app beat my 20-year-old Sekonic last month
After 3 years of refusing to trust phone metering, I shot a roll of Portra 400 in fog at Point Reyes and got perfect exposures while my Sekonic was off by two stops because I forgot to swap its battery profile, so has anyone else ditched their dedicated meter for an app when conditions get weird?

My Sekonic's been a desk ornament since I downloaded an app for a trip where I forgot my meter entirely. That fog at Point Reyes is exactly the kind of thing that wrecks my brain, too much light bouncing around. I still keep the old thing for studio strobes, but honestly it's mostly for the looks now. Took me two years and a roll of ruined HP5 to admit that, but here we are. Your mileage may vary, but my phone's been scary good in weird light.
