Wasted $350 on a cheap irrigation controller that failed after 6 months
I bought one of those no-name wifi sprinkler timers off Amazon back in April. Figured it was the same guts as the name brand ones for half the price. Worked fine through spring but come July it just stopped connecting to the app. Then it started skipping zones randomly. By August it was stuck with a valve open and flooded my side yard for like 4 hours before I noticed. $350 down the drain plus the water bill spike. Anyone else get burned by off brand irrigation stuff around here?

Down the drain plus the water bill spike" really sums up how I feel now. I used to be that guy who swore by the cheap stuff, thought it was all the same factory with a different sticker. But after a similar failure with a no-name timer last year I had to dig up part of my lawn to fix a valve that got stuck open. The $80 I saved upfront cost me way more in repairs and my wife still brings up the dead patch near the driveway. I'll pay the premium for something that just works from now on.

Sounds like your wallet learned the hard way what my lawn already knew.
