Spanish style tile roof sprung a leak after last monsoon
Woke up to water dripping through the living room ceiling last Thursday from a cracked tile on a 20 year old roof, and now I'm deciding between patching it myself or calling a roofer who wants $800 for the repair.

That $800 quote seems high, but did they say that includes pulling up surrounding tiles and replacing the underlayment underneath? My neighbor had a Spanish tile leak last year and the roofer found the original felt paper had basically turned to dust, so they had to redo a three-foot section around the crack. If your tiles are that old, a single cracked tile might mean the whole area needs re-flashing too. What did the roofer say they'd actually be fixing for the $800?
