PSA: My water bill hit exactly $200 this month and it made me check everything

I realized that number is double what it was last summer, so I went looking for leaks. Found a constantly running toilet in the guest bathroom that I never use. How often do you guys check your fixtures?

My old landlord's bill taught me to check toilets monthly now.

Checking for leaks every month is a total waste of time. Most fixtures are built to last years without issue. You only need to look when your bill gives you a real reason.

Tell that to my water bill last year, spencer664. Found a tiny toilet leak that was basically a slow drip for months (my wallet still hurts thinking about it). Guess I'm just the kind of person who needs a monthly reminder to avoid another surprise.
