Parking lot at the Uptown mall got my car broken into last week

Somebody smashed my passenger window at the Uptown mall around 6pm on a Tuesday. They grabbed a gym bag out of my back seat, nothing valuable but the window cost me $280 to replace. Now I never leave anything visible in my car, not even a soda can. Has anyone else had trouble with theft in that parking lot?

That $280 is a lot when you're not expecting it though, and @patriciamoore I've seen plenty of posts about break-ins at that lot over the last few months so it's not just a one-off thing.

$280 isn't THAT bad for a window honestly. I've paid way more for repairs on my own car. People leave bags in their cars every day and nothing happens, so you just got unlucky. The mall has security cameras and patrols, so it's not like it's some high crime zone. Maybe you should just be more careful about WHERE you park instead of blaming the whole lot. I see bags on seats all the time and 99 times out of 100 nothing happens to them. This really sounds like a one time thing, not some big problem that everyone needs to worry about.
