My neighbor said I was watering my lawn wrong and it got me thinking about desert landscaping

She told me I was dumping water on dirt basically and that xeriscaping with native plants actually saves more water and looks better, which hit different after I saw her yard survive that 108 degree stretch while mine turned brown anyway, has anyone else switched from turf to gravel and succulents out here?

Wait, is this really something people argue about? I mean, I get that water bills add up, but like, are we really losing sleep over how someone waters their lawn? I switched to rocks and cactus a few years back and honestly, it's fine. Looks decent enough and I barely touch it. But the whole "you're doing it wrong" thing feels a bit much. Some people just like their grass, you know? If your neighbor's yard survived that heat wave and yours didn't, maybe she's got a point about the watering method. But it's not that serious. You do you, let her do her.

Yeah, people sure love getting worked up over grass.

Blame the squirrels, dylan413. They're the ones digging up half the lawns around here and making everyone rethink their whole setup.
