My inspector said skip the radon test, 8 months later I wish I hadn't listened
When we bought our place near the North Valley last fall, our home inspector told us radon testing was a waste of money in this area. He said Albuquerque soil doesn't have the same issues as其他地方, so we skipped it. Fast forward to last month, we finally did a cheap $25 test kit from the county and it came back at 5.8 pCi/L, which is above the EPA action level of 4. I called two mitigation companies and they both quoted around $1,800 to install a system. My neighbor down the street found out his place tested at 7.2, so this seems like a real pattern, not just bad luck. Has anyone else trusted that advice and regretted it, or did your tests come back fine? I'm trying to decide if I should push other buyers to ignore that kind of shortcut talk before they close.
