Just saw a house on Carlisle with a really clever way to handle the afternoon sun
They built a simple wooden shade structure over the west-facing patio, and it looked way cooler than those metal awnings. Has anyone tried something similar to cut down on AC bills?

Did you check if your HOA would even allow a wooden structure before getting excited?

Wait, they built it themselves? That's wild... I can barely put together an Ikea shelf without the instructions. A whole patio shade is next level. Must have saved a ton of money doing it that way though.
