I finally got my yard to stop looking like a sand pit

Honestly, I used to just water the whole thing for 20 minutes every other day and it was always patchy. After talking to a guy at Osuna Nursery, I switched to deep watering just twice a week for an hour each zone. Has anyone else found a watering schedule that actually works here?

My neighbor told me to water for 45 minutes just once a week and it saved my lawn.

Wait, FORTY FIVE minutes all at once? That feels like you're just flooding the yard and most of it is running off into the street. My soil could never soak that up in one go, it would be a total waste. I'm shocked that actually worked and didn't just create a swamp or a huge water bill.
