Hot take: my neighbor on Menaul said he still mails his mortgage payment 12 years after paying off the house
We got to talking over the fence last Saturday about the old Valley Bank branch on Eubank that used to be a walk up, and he says he keeps mailing that check out of habit, even though he could pay it off the porch. Made me wonder how many folks around here still do it the paper way just because that is how it was always done.

Used to roll my eyes at the paper check thing, figured it was just stubbornness or folks who never got on the apps. Then my dad passed and I found his little payment log book, every month written out by hand for 30 years, and it hit me that the habit is really about control and memory, not the bank. The guy on Menaul probably mails that check because it is the one thing in his week he still does exactly the way he always has.
