Got my first 1000 day streak on the neighborhood watch app

I checked the Nextdoor posts and saw a guy stole a grill from a yard two blocks over. Noticed the pattern because I log when I walk my dog at 6am every day. Anyone else use that app to track neighborhood activity?

The neighborhood watch stuff is just a small part of how we all get stuck in our routines and miss the stuff that actually matters. People get so focused on logging their walks and reporting small stuff that they forget to actually talk to their neighbors or notice when someone is struggling. Seen it a million times where everyone is watching but nobody is really looking.

Man, you nailed it. That's exactly what I saw with my street a couple years back. People got so caught up in the app and the logs they forgot we were supposed to be looking out for each other. So one Saturday I just sat out on my porch with a cooler of sodas and waved people over. No agenda, no forms, just talking. After that, the app usage dropped but I actually knew who lived next door for the first time in three years. Sometimes you gotta break the routine yourself.
