Found out a new build in the Foothills pays about the same property tax as an older home near Nob Hill, does that seem right?
I was poking around the county assessor site after a neighbor complained at our HOA meeting, and the numbers caught me off guard. A house built in 2021 up in the Foothills with a higher sale price was assessed almost the same as a 1950s place near Nob Hill that sold for less. I get that the tax rate is the same, but the valuations seem all over the place depending on when things got reassessed. Some folks say the older homes are catching up now and it will even out, others say new builds get off easy for a while. My own bill went up about 11 percent this year and I still can't tell if that's normal here. Has anyone pulled their assessment and compared it to what nearby homes actually sold for?
