Came home to a $180 water bill before I figured out my sprinkler timer was set wrong

For 6 months I thought my lawn just needed more water during those 100 degree days, so I kept cranking up the run time. Then my neighbor pointed out my controller was set to run every zone twice because I had the A and B programs both active. Anyone else ever accidentally double water their yard without realizing it?

Yep, my neighbor caught me doing the exact same thing with my Rachio last summer.

Is it really that big of a deal if someone sees you messing with your sprinkler timer? My neighbor saw me out there arguing with my old Orbit controller and just waved like it was normal. I figure most people are too worried about their own stuff to care about your landscaping schedule. Unless you're out there with a pitchfork at midnight, it's probably fine. Half the time they're probably just thinking about what to have for dinner anyway.
