Tried that spray foam insulation in my attic and it was a disaster
Ngl I thought I'd save a bunch by DIYing the spray foam in my Edmonton bungalow last weekend. Now I have a giant cured blob on my hands and the smell won't leave. Has anyone else had luck with a pro for small attic jobs?

Jumped into DIY insulation myself once and it really shows how we all think we can shortcut stuff until we hit that wall. Same thing happened with my cousin redoing her bathroom grout, she used the cheap premix instead of mixing her own, now it cracks every winter. It's like that urge to save a few bucks on a project blinds you to the fact that some things are just built for pros. The smell you mentioned is the kicker, that means it's off gassing wrong and could be a health thing. Better to call a spray foam crew, they got the rigs and the masks, and they can do a small attic in a morning without turning your house into a science experiment gone bad.

I dunno, I've seen plenty of DIY insulation jobs that worked out fine, it's not like rocket science, and some folks just want to save a couple grand without dealing with contractors who ghost you for weeks. That smell could just be fresh chemicals curing, not a death sentence, and mixing your own grout isn't always better if you mess up the ratios either.
