Swapped my slab foundation inspection for a pier and beam one in Edmonton, huge difference
Honestly I was all about slab foundations for years, thought they were simpler and cheaper. Then my uncle who builds in Fort McMurray talked me into looking at pier and beam for a house I was eyeing near Whyte Ave. He showed me how easy it is to fix plumbing and level things later, no jackhammering out a whole floor. After 3 walkthroughs with a structural guy, I flipped my opinion completely. The upfront cost was about $8k more but the long term access sold me. Has anyone else switched preference after talking to an actual builder?
