Open house stampede in Calgary, lock the front door or let them roam?
I listed my duplex in the southeast near Deerfoot last Saturday and the first open house turned into chaos. Dozens of families came through between 1 and 3, some with kids running straight to the basement stairs while others argued about paint colors in the kitchen. I had agents telling me to let buyers wander freely to feel at home, but my neighbor's cousin had a theft scare from a similar setup in Airdrie last spring. How do you run an open house in this market without either feeling like Big Brother or losing that relaxed vibe buyers seem to expect?
