My uncle told me to skip the home inspection to save $600, and I actually listened for a second
Was looking at a 1978 bi-level in Red Deer last month and my uncle, who has flipped like nine houses, told me inspections are a waste of $600 because you can just "look at the foundation yourself." For about a day I actually considered it since the place was already at the top of my budget. Then I remembered he once bought a place with a cracked sewer line and spent $11,000 fixing it. Booked the inspection, guy found poly-B plumbing and a roof that was done in 2003. Curious if anyone here has ever skipped the inspection and regretted it, or actually came out fine?

Man, that poly-B detail hits close to home. My buddy bought a place in Penhold back in 2016 without an inspection because the seller seemed like a nice old guy, and the guy was nice, but the nice guy also forgot to mention the whole basement flooded twice. Cost him about 14 grand and a summer of his life. Six hundred bucks starts to look real cheap when you do that math.
