My forced air furnace tune up routine, I was doing it backwards for 6 winters
I used to just swap the filter every 2 months and call it good. Then last November my neighbor who does HVAC work took a look at my furnace and found the flame sensor was caked with carbon. He cleaned it in 10 minutes and showed me the burn marks. That convinced me to add a yearly cleaning of the flame sensor and checking the pressure switch hose to my list. It cost me nothing but some time and my furnace runs way quieter now. Has anyone else tried cleaning their own flame sensor before calling a tech?
