Hot take: renting in Edmonton beat buying in Calgary for us after running the numbers
We crunched it for our move from Calgary to Edmonton two months ago and renting near Whyte Ave while we save up came out $700 a month cheaper than buying in the burbs, has anyone else done the math on this?

Oh wow, you ran the numbers right. I did the same move three years back and the rent vs buy gap is real. My tip is to watch the condo fees if you ever look at buying later, they sneak up on you big time. Also check your car insurance and commute costs, those ate into our "savings" more than we planned. Whyte Ave is a solid spot to rent while you stack cash.
