Gas furnace vs heat pump in Red Deer, here is what I chose

Last fall I had to pick between swapping my old gas furnace or putting in a heat pump for our bungalow in Red Deer. The quotes were close, about $9,000 for the heat pump versus $6,500 for a mid grade furnace, but the rebates tipped me toward the heat pump. Install took two days and the unit handles our -30 stretches okay, but my hydro bill in January hit $410 which hurt. The backup electric strips kick in more than I expected, so I'm wondering if anyone else in central Alberta regrets ditching gas for a heat pump?
