Warning: I used to think those magnetic window/door sensors were a gimmick for DIY kits, but after installing a set on a client's sunroom in Tampa last month, I haven't had a single false alarm despite the humidity.

The client specifically requested them over drilling into their new vinyl frames, and I was sure we'd be back in a week, but the adhesive and seals have held perfectly through three major storms. Has anyone else had a specific job that changed their mind about a product they initially dismissed?

What brand of sensors did you end up using? Always good to know which ones actually hold up.

Wow, that's a great story. I had the same exact doubt about those stick-on sensors. I was sure they'd fail on a bathroom window job last year (client refused any holes in their tile). Like @mark731 asked, the brand matters a lot. I used the SecureSlide ones, and I'll admit I was wrong. They've been through a full Chicago winter and spring now, no issues with the cold or the steam. It really made me stop judging products just by how they're installed.

dude same here. i totally judged those stick on sensors before trying them. put some on a rental property last year cause landlord was strict about no screws and i was sure theyd fall off within a month. nope, still holding strong through summer humidity and everything. its wild how good some of em are now.
